Anonymous: What if for certain reasons I can't go to a well-educated psychologist? I'm completely sure I have SAD, though.

That’s totally understandable. My thing with self-diagnosing is that it’s incredibly unhealthy for a lot of people, especially people on Tumblr.

If you think you have a disorder, then acknowledge what’s wrong and focus on your recovery more than having it written on a piece of paper.

Whether you have a disorder or not, you have (serious, I assume) problems with anxiety, and it’s important that you focus your attention on getting better, in my opinion.

That being said, I know I myself am very attached to having labels like depressed, socially anxious, etc. Not because it’s really cool or the new black or whatever, but it comforts me and reassures me of my poor mental health, so that I believe there’s something actually wrong (and there is!)

So, there are two sides to this really, but I hope you understand what I am saying! u_u

Best of luck.

Anonymous: I've never actually been diagnosed with SAD by a doctor. We took a couple of tests at school and the results said I had Severe Social Anxiety. I took a couple of more tests and they all had the same results. Is that enough to say that I have SAD or do I actually have to go to a doctor or a psychologist?

I answered this with a really long reply but Tumblr messed up and didn’t post it, so a summary is basically this:

Telling yourself you have a disorder without professional input can be extremely unhealthy to your well-being whether you have the disorder or not. You do not always have to go to a doctor or a psychologist to get better/healthy, but if you want to know if you HAVE a certain disorder, I would highly recommend trusting no one but a well-educated, trained psychologist. uou

Anonymous: I FEEL REALLY DUMB I THOUGHT YOU WERE A GIRL THIS WHOLE TIME OH GOD AND YOUR 16?!?!? TOTALLY THOUGHT YOU WERE OLDER!!!! IM AN IDIOT

Oops.

Anonymous: are u a girl by any chance?

[aggressive yodeling]

Since a couple people have been asking me about this, if I do any new videos on social anxiety, what would you like to see? They’ll be posted on my personal channel since I don’t have access to socialanxietythings (my ex has the password, I assume) so there’s that. But, yeah. Video topics. What do you guys want me to talk about specifically like dealing with certain places, telling your ‘rents or whatever, etc?

Anonymous: wait a minute. Shirley? Do you go to Gettysburg, perchance?

Nope. I go to Youth Specialty Services in Christchurch, New Zealand.

How about we just ignore the fact I reblogged that to this blog yep okay///////

Anonymous: Why arent you posting any thing :(

As I’ve said, this blog isn’t going to update nearly as much as it used to. I have a lot more to focus on, sorry.

Please be patient.

Anonymous: I am just wondering if its Shirley? I saw her.

Shirley is one of mine, yeah. Shirley is lovely.
