Just wanted to share a post I found elsewhere on the interwebs. It may sound a bit harsh, but I think it’s accurate, and it helped me to set myself free, in a sense, from my mental prison.
So many people labour under the yoke of futile anxieties. Internal blather furrows their brows, incessantly, niggling questions disquiet their consciousness. “What will people think of me? Will I pass muster, in the eyes of those I’d like to impress? Does this collar match these lapels? Am I about to humiliate myself?”
Take a moment, and a few deep breaths, then relax:
You aren’t being constantly judged. There is no perpetual assessment of you conducted by those around you. You aren’t important enough for that. No one is looking at you. No one is watching you. Why would they?
Barely anyone cares about you. When you enter a room, few notice. When you leave, no one pines. If you were never to have been there, few would have spotted any difference, or cared. They have better things to pay attention to than you, better people. They are carrying on with their lives, much as they would if you tossed yourself off something tall.
You’re a fleck of matter, of precious little consequence. Those you love, and who love you in return (if there are any…), would have found others in your absence. They will find others once you’re gone.
You can put on whatever jacket or dress you like, cut your hair however you want, and it won’t make any difference. You’re still barely a part of almost anyone’s life, and most people are perfectly happy with that. Don’t fret. As far as practically everyone’s concerned, you don’t matter. And you never will.
Try not to take a negative message from this. It is because you don’t matter that you can be free to do anything you want.

This is very true outside of high school. I blame school for instilling this sort of attitude. My anxiety lessened...

How can this post be liked? It is simply horrid, taking such a negative view to make you feel better about yourself?...
